Lillian M. Reis Furtado, age 64, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Lillian was born in Mosteiros, Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores. She was daughter of the late Edmundo S. Reis and the late Maria da Conceição Dias. She and her family emigrated to the United States in the 1960’s and settled in Rhode Island where she would go on to meet her best friend and devoted husband of nearly 40 years, Jaime C. Furtado (Jim).
Lillian was a lively and warm spirited person that will be remembered by her genuine kindness and ability to make people smile. She was passionate about traveling, especially to Nordeste, and enjoyed gardening, crafting, and working on the Reis family tree. Lillian had a generous heart that made giving back and caring for others second-nature. She cared for both her parents and Jim’s parents at the end of their lives. She also volunteered at Saint Anthony’s Church in Pawtucket, RI.
She will be sorely missed and remembered by her beloved husband Jim and her siblings, Edmund Reis and his partner Lubelia, Berta M. Reis, Adrian M. Reis, and Daniel Reis and his partner Donna. Lillian was preceded in death by her brother, Carlos A. Reis.
She is survived by her many nieces and nephews Ryan L. Boudreau, Marisa B. Leister, Philip E. Reis, Lauren J. Rodriguez, Ashley M. Reis; Raven R. Reis, Ryo C. Reis, and Cody Furtado, Amanda Furtado, Taylor Furtado, Noah Furtado, and Jordan Furtado; her great nieces and nephews Matthew H. Leister; Emilia G. Leister; Emily O. Boudreau; Kayla M. Leister and Kaiya R. Rodriguez; and her brother-in law Eduardo Furtado and his partner Maria, and brother-in-law Manny Furtado and sister-in-law Gina Furtado.
Family and friends can pay their respects Monday, July 3rd from 9:00 – 10:45 AM at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Anthony’s Church, 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket, RI. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Lillian’s memory to: The American Cancer Society.
